That is still a better map than people had up until 300 years ago. It’s just a throwback to a less precise time, ya know.

I’m always amazed by the earliest maps of the America s.

I mean, 1507 was only 15 years after Columbus first landed in the West Indies, yet look at how much detail is in the Waldseemüller map.

Europe moved fast .

You had to have good maps for all that colonialism and intercontinental trade. Still pretty incredible how quickly they advanced.

I was a health worker in the forest in Paraguay between by Jr and Sr years in highschool. the local indigenous school had a hand drawn map that was total shit. I drew them a far more accurate map myself.

I’ve never been in a Scout, my dad has a 60s Bronco, Land Cruisers but not one of those.

I can count on one hand the number of 4wd vehicles I’ve been in.

Not models , vehicles. I’m such a poser.

Well I guess you’ll have to remedy that!

That sounds like an incredible experience. Like what, a map of the whole world or just Paraguay? It must have been pretty bad then.

I went with Amigos de las Americas , we did training during the school year and then you find out where you are sent, they go all over. It was a world map, I was in an area that Guarani people lived in. There were Peace Corps in the area at some point, I don’t know who drew the map. It was really bad, I remember seeing OZ and NZ sort of smashed together, and nothing was the right size or it was just really wrong. I have always liked travelling and geography so my map wasn’t too bad.
